88.7 FM, The Pulse, the student-operated radio station at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT), is set to broadcast ten boys and girls high school basketball games during the 2024-2025 regular season. The broadcasts will run from December 3, 2024, to February 12, 2025, showcasing schools across the East Valley, including Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, and Ahwatukee.
This season’s schedule features several marquee matchups, including:
- A showdown between last year’s boys Open Division champion Perry and semifinalist Basha.
- A rematch of the girls Open Division championship game between Desert Vista and Xavier Prep.
- A girls 4A title rematch with Mesquite facing Salpointe Catholic.
- The 6A girls champion O’Connor visiting Open Division semifinalist Hamilton.
- Appearances by boys Open Division runner-up Millennium, boys 6A champion Liberty, girls 6A runner-up Perry, and boys Open Division semifinalist Notre Dame Prep.
The Pulse is a full-power FM public radio station produced by EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production program, located on the EVIT Main Campus. Covering the East Valley and reaching three-quarters of the Phoenix metro area, The Pulse provides a platform to showcase the talents of EVIT students. The high school basketball broadcasts offer students valuable, hands-on experience as play-by-play announcers, analysts, and on-site engineers. Additionally, students manage all pre- and post-production for the broadcasts.
Known as a leader in live high school sports radio coverage, Pulse Sports is now in its 10th year. In the fall of 2024, The Pulse completed a nine-game schedule of East Valley high school football broadcasts. The station also covers boys and girls basketball, baseball, and softball games throughout the year.
The Pulse is a two-time winner of the “Best High School Radio Station” award at the John Drury National High School Radio Awards.
