Phoenix Suns to Host 2027 NBA All-Star Game

At a press conference Thursday afternoon just inside the main entrance of the Footprint Center, the Phoenix Suns and NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, announced that the city of Phoenix will host the 2027 NBA All-Star Game.

Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia continues to build a strong reputation for not only the Phoenix Suns but also the city of Phoenix. It’s been just over 13 months since Mat Ishbia took over ownership of the Phoenix Suns. “We’ve done a lot in 13 months,”  Ishbia said. “I said when I took over as governor, it’s not my team; it’s the city’s team. It’s my honor to work for this city and to work for everyone to make this the best franchise in sports.”.

Ishbia has been working tirelessly to bring only the best action to the state of Arizona. “We said it from the day we got the team and I got involved; I said the NBA and WNBA All-Star Games are on the list as some of the priorities.” Within the next 3 years, Phoenix will be hosting the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, the 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four, and the 2027 NBA All-Star Game.

“Enthusiasm”. That was the word NBA commissioner Adam Silver used to describe the enthusiasm from the Suns front office about hosting the All-Star Game. The Suns have not hosted an NBA All-Star Game since 2009, in which the Western Conference beat the Eastern Conference 146-119. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were named co-MVPs.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs said that the 2027 All-Star game will generate around $400 million in revenue, providing a huge economic boost for the state. “Our whole state rises to the occasion,”  said Hobbs. “Our hospitality and our tourism industry are able to provide people with such a great experience, both basketball fans and otherwise.”

The events set to unfold over the next year will not only be huge for basketball fans and the Suns and Mercury, but for the city of Phoenix as well. And who knows? Maybe the Suns will have an NBA title under their belts too, by that time. But there’s no doubt that the 2027 NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix will be one of the best ones yet.
