Author: Michael Mallace

Looking for something extraordinary to do this season? The Arizona Renaissance Festival is back and better than ever, celebrating an incredible 37 years of medieval merriment! Mark your calendars for an unforgettable trip to the 16th century, running every Saturday and Sunday from February 1 through March 30, including Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 17. Here’s why this one-of-a-kind festival deserves a spot on your weekend itinerary.

Immerse Yourself in Renaissance Revelry

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Superstition Mountains, the Arizona Renaissance Festival transforms its sprawling 50-acre village into a vibrant, living history experience. Wander through the bustling marketplace filled with over 200 storybook shops, artisan studios, and galleries offering handcrafted treasures, unique arts, and tasty treats.

Don’t miss the chance to interact with the festival’s lively cast of nearly 2,000 costumed characters, who will bring the magic of the Renaissance to life right before your eyes. From the Queen’s royal court to mischievous jesters and daring knights, there’s never a dull moment.

Endless Entertainment for All Ages

With 16 stages of nonstop entertainment, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Laugh along with comedy shows, marvel at the acrobatics, sway to live music, and catch dazzling performances from falconers and dancers. Even mermaids make a magical appearance!

For the little ones, the festival offers whimsical, interactive games and people-powered rides like Da Vinci’s Flying Machine, the Slider Joust, and Piccolo Pony—a rocking horse bigger than an elephant. Adventurous visitors can tackle the Dragon Climbing Tower, conquer the Maze, test their aim at the Archery Range, and more.

Witness Epic Jousting Tournaments

The heart-pounding jousting tournaments are a highlight of the festival! Watch as armored knights on horseback charge with lances in hand, battling for glory and the Queen’s honor. These thrilling events take place three times daily in a grand 5,000-seat arena. Pick your favorite knight and cheer them on!

Feast Like Royalty

Foodies, rejoice! The festival serves up a royal menu featuring everything from hearty steak-on-a-stake and savory bread bowls to indulgent desserts like crepes and chimney rolls. Of course, no trip to the festival would be complete without a smoked turkey leg.

For an elevated experience, attend the Pleasure Feast, where you’ll savor a five-course meal paired with ample drynk and raucous Renaissance entertainment. This exclusive feast takes place daily at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM and includes festival admission and a commemorative goblet. Advance reservations are required, so book early!

Sip and Stroll with The Hops Pub Crawl

Adults can join the HOPS Masters, Rowland & Florian, for a rollicking pub crawl through four of the village’s best pubs. With games, laughter, and plenty of spirits, this is a must for those 21 and older. Pub crawls are offered daily at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, with limited spots available—so reserve your place early!
