A Win For The Cardinals! AZ vs. SF Recap
The Arizona Cardinals were hosted by the San Francisco 49ers for a week five NFC West matchup. Both teams have had games where they let their opponent take over in critical situations, resulting in a loss. So far the Cardinals’ biggest problem has been their ability to stay consistent throughout the game. However, that would change in this week five matchup.
Kyler Murray zoomed past the Niners for the longest rushing touchdown of his NFL career. His run was good for 50 yards, and at the 45 he knew it and showed it by the excitement of his actions.
Cardinals kicker Matt Prater, who has been perfect so far this season, was out today. Former Patriot kicker Chad Ryland stepped up big in Prater’s role today, after he got his first kicker blocked he hit two field goals, including the game winning one.
James Conner owned the run game today, as he had a dominant second half, finishing today’s game with 19 carries for 86 yards. Each time the Niners seemed to have contained him, Conner broke loose and kept chugging for extra yards.
Another bright spot for the Cardinals offense was Michael Wilson. Wilson had an underlooked afternoon, but he made big plays and went for five catches to go along with 78 yards.
The defense held their own today against a 49er team without their star in Christian McCaffrey. Arizona forced three turnovers today, two interceptions from linebackers Mack Wilson and Kyzir White, and a fumble forced by linebacker Jesse Luketa and recovered by Mack Wilson. Wilson has had a solid start to his Cardinals career, making plays throughout the early season. Budda Baker led the way with 12 tackles.
The Cardinals will head to Green Bay next week, as they will face off against Jordan Love and the Packers. This should be a win that carries momentum on for the Cards. Arizona is now 2-3.
