GoldRush:Wild Card kicks off the electronic music festival season in Phoenix

GoldRush: Wild Card lit up Phoenix Raceway earlier this month. This music festival was hosted by RelentlessBeats and featured DJ’s such as The Chainsmokers, Slander, and Alesso to name a few. The festival took place across 5 stages, 4 of them outdoor and 1 indoor. They also had a row of shops, food trucks, an arcade area, and ice skating.

Day one started the event off strong with a packed festival grounds and hard hitting performances. Whether it was the main stage or the indoor club, everywhere was filled with party goers and performers alike. One of my favorite performances I saw in the crowd was a group with a Chinese New Years disco dragon that they would wave about to the music. Along with that people were dressed in all manner of outfits ranging from LED covered accessories to elaborate costumes. The event really started to amp up around the time Timmy Trumpet performed. From that point until the end of the night the energy couldn’t be contained. The night finally came to an end with The Chainsmokers and Sullivan King closing the show out. Night one was a great start to the event and had us excitedly anticipating night two.

The second day of GoldRush was my personal favorite of the two. The night had some of my favorite DJ’s and really kept me bouncing from stage to stage. My most anticipated performance of the night was San Holo. My buddy and I have been fans of his for around eight years and it was awesome to see him live. His performance gave us late 2010’s edm vibes and I loved it. The best set of the night had to go to Black Tiger Sex Machine in my opinion. They’re performance was anime themed with remixes and callbacks to plenty of popular anime. I saw Black Tiger Sex Machine last year at Decadence and so far have been extremely impressed. The show ended with Performances by INZO, Mersiv, and Slander. Although the event is over it was a great start to this year’s festival season. Special thanks to RelentlessBeats for letting us cover the event.
